Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | June 3rd 2015: BRVM equity market cap adds XOF 70 billion and composite index rise
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) BRVM main indices closed the trading session this Wednesday lower than the previous day for BRVM 10, and higher for BRVM Composite. BRVM 10 index decreased from 276.13 to 275.83 points, a drop of 0.11%. BRVM Composite index gained 0.24% to 270.31 against 269.66 points previously. Likewise, the equity market capitalization added XOF 70 billion to close at XOF 6, 670.14 billion compared with yesterday’s market capitalization of XOF 6,600.34 billion.
In term of market activity, today trading activity was light compared to previous day. The total volume was recorded at 49,181 compared to 1.573 million volume recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was recorded at XOF 740.75 million (against XOF 708.12 million recorded at Tuesday trading session). Out of the 39 listed securities 25 were traded in 188 transactions. In addition, today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 26,097 traded shares (accounted for almost 53 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest turnover of XOF 224.41 million. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 9.9 percent and Price Earning Ratio was recorded at 23.40.
Looking at the market price movers’, out of the 25 traded securities there were 9 price gainers, 6 price losers and 10 remained unchanged, hence market breathe end on a positive note. On the one hand, BOLLORE Africa Logistics COTE D’IVOIRE advanced by 7.27 percent to close at XOF 177,000 and SITAB COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 3.89 percent to conclude at XOF 147,000. Likewise, CFAO MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE climbed by 3.08 percent to settle at XOF 67,000 and BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE added 1.86 percent with a closing price of XOF 98,000.
On the other hand, FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 2.57 percent to trade at XOF 27,000 and ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION TOGO fell by 1.79 percent to close at XOF 55. Still on losers’ chart, TOTAL SENEGAL and ONATEL BURKINA FASO declined by 1.26 percent and 1.14 percent to close at XOF 27,005 and XOF 8,700 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, financial services and agriculture sector indices went down by 0.94 percent and 0.12 percent respectively. On the other hand, industry and public utilities sector index climbed by 0.20 percent and 0.55 percent respectively. Also, transportation and distribution sector indices raised by 7.13 percent and 0.66 percent. However, miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged.
